Große Kammermusik - Great chamber music
The works of Franz Schubert and Leoš Janáček are both characterised by their composer’s unique tonal language. Setting out in the tracks of these composers “is a process which, for us musicians, involves a continuous series of doors opening”, says Christian Altenburger. On this occasion he sets Janáček’s violin sonata and his late “Concertino for piano and chamber ensemble” alongside Schubert’s monumental Octet, in order to bring out the similarities between these two great masters of music.
