Brücken in die Gegenwart - Bridges in the present time
One of the high points of Christian Altenburger’s cycle at MuTh last year was a performance of “Frankenstein!!” with composer HK Gruber as conductor and chansonnier. Gruber has already declared his intention to collaborate in another concert this season.
This time he is working with students from the mdw on the music from the transformation scene of “Fanferlieschen Schönefüßchen” by Kurt Schwertsik. The audience will also be treated to Beethoven’s “Ghost” piano trio and a sonata by Ravel – a grateful nod to the classical musical tradition, without which there could have been no development. “If a musician is engaged and aware, they will obviously be involved in the music of their time. But they will also pay attention to the great masters”, says Christian Altenburger. “This allows musicians to constantly create new connections; not only for the audience, but also for themselves.”
Programme:
Ludwig van Beethoven: Piano trio in D major, Op. 70 No.1., the “Ghost”
Maurice Ravel: Sonata for violin and cello
Kurt Schwertsik: Transformation music from Fanferlieschen Schönefüßchen
